Single review - SYFTA, Breathe

SYFTA are one of the hottest new indie bands to burst onto the north west scene from Widnes.

Their brand new single Breathe was released 28th February just ahead of their headline tour where they'll be playing Manchester, Liverpool, London and Bristol.

It's an instant ear worm of a song, with a great opening line, " Why are you dreaming, they say I'm not coming down" and it leads onto a chorus with absolutely gorgeous harmonies and guitars. A lot of songs would let that be enough to carry them to conclusion but not this band. The drums lay the perfect foundations for the track, being intense when they have to and subtle at the more emotional elements of the song. And that guitar solo - love, love, love.

Dreaminisfree is all about the emotional connection to songs and artists though so how does it make me feel? For me it's a song about needing to have space. It's about taking a step back and looking at what's causing the overwhelming emotions that you're going through. It's melancholic but it also gives you hope. Like you know that once you do take stock that everything is going to be ok - once you Breathe!

I wrote Breathe about when things start to go wrong,” said frontman Harry Whiston. “A few events can start to pile up, and I just wanted to highlight the importance of looking at the bigger picture.
