Single Review: Bugeye with Electric

Updated: Feb 13, 2020

Bugeye are Angela Martin (vocals and guitar); Paula Snow (Bass); Kerrie Smith (Drums and vocals); Grace Healy (Keys); and Electric is the seventh single to be released from this London fab femme four.

If you're not aware of Bugeye or their sound, they describe themselves as a disco/punk band which is a pretty accurate description. If you're a fan of Peaness, Dream Wife, Calva Louise or Pip Blom you're going to love them.

Electric is one of those ear worms that's very obviously drawing it's influences from the synth era of the 1980's but it also very much a tune for now. As a child who grew up in the 80's this wouldn't sound out of place in that period and that's a massive compliment. They remind me a little of Blondie (circa Eat to the Beat) and as a Blondie super fan that's the biggest compliment I can pay them.

If you want a tune that has a catchy riff, good lyrics and you can just let go on the dance floor then this is the tune for you.

Bugeye are a band who get better with every release and I cannot wait to hear their new album which is set for release in 2020.

If you're in and around Cambridge on 19th December these ladies play The Portland Arms and it's £5 on the door! Money well spent

You can connect with Bugeye on Spotify, Instagram, Facebook & Twitter.
