Single review: Grace Savage 'Temper Temper'

As an independent music blogger who works full time and has a passion for music, sometimes we get to stuff late. Not through tardiness - life gets in the way.

Grace Savage's latest single 'Temper Temper' may have been released 30th April, but when an artists work is as stunning as this track, it deserves a share - no matter when it was released.

If you've not heard of Grace Savage she's an incredibly talented independent artist who's not only insanely gifted as a musician, but her beat boxing has seen her claim 3 UK Championships! If temperature was a measure talent, then this lady would be sub-zero.

Turning to 'Temper Temper' the track has a striking start that has you hooked from the first notes. It's an incredibly emotively driven track and I can hear elements of garage, but it has also much soul. Given the subject matter, that's no surprise. Grace has been really clever here - every lyric is perfectly balanced with a sound that reflects the emotion of the what's being said.

Speaking about the single Grace said, "Temper Temper is a stark contrast to my last single which was a romantic, uplifting song about how I proposed to my fiancé…but we all know relationships are hard work and it’s not flowers & sunshine all the time! (God. I sound like my Mum) I wrote the lyrics for this in the first lockdown, during a heatwave, after we’d had an argument. We were living in a small flat, spending 24 hours together, we were hot, cranky & drinking too much. It’s been a strange, revealing, stressful, beautifully messy & wonderfully complex time. Sometimes it’s passionate and great, sometimes it’s mundane and sometimes it’s explosive. Whatever your circumstance, whether you’ve spent it with your parents, flatmate, best mate, stranger, a new relationship or a long term one…it can be overwhelming so I hope people can relate.”

Summing this song up in one word - Passionate!
